What is High Carbon Silicon 68?

High carbon silicon, also known as silicon carbon alloy, high carbon silicon is an alloy composed of two elements: silicon (Si) and carbon (C). Among them, silicon is a non-metallic element with high melting point, high density, corrosion resistance and other properties; while carbon is a metallic element with high hardness, high wear resistance and other properties. The two elements combine with each other to form the unique physical and chemical properties of high carbon silicon, high carbon silicon 68 is one of the commonly used specifications.

Advantages of High Carbon Silicon 68

The chemical reaction of silicon and oxygen produces SiO2, which also releases large amount of heat. Therefore, high-carbon silicon can replace the traditional heating agent with a higher price in converter and hearth furnace steelmaking. Its application helps to reduce the production cost, faster deoxidation saves electricity bills.

The recovery rate has increased from about 8% to about 50%. The recovery rate of high carbon silicon can be increased by about 2% after being used with ferromanganese and ferrosilicon.

The amount of high carbon silicon is added in the amount of one kilogram per ton of steel. The consumption of aluminum is reduced from 1kg/T steel to 0.3kg/T steel; calcium silicon is no longer used, and the consumption of ferrosilicon and ferromanganese can be reduced from the usual amount.

High-carbon ferrosilicon is a new type of alloy used in converters. It can replace ferrosilicon, silicon carbide, and carburizers, reduce the amount of deoxidizer, and is used in the deoxidation alloying process of converter smelting. The effect is stable, and the chemical composition, mechanical properties and The quality of internal control is better than that of traditional processes. As a new type of strong composite deoxidizer, it can also be used for tempering general steel, alloy steel and special steel. In addition, as a temperature-raising agent, it can replace the more expensive traditional temperature-raising agent required in converter and open-hearth steelmaking.

A: Si-C alloy is a new type of alloy, generally called silicon carbon alloy, or high carbon silicon.,or high carbon ferro silicon. It is the by-product of Silicon metal , and main element are Si and C , balance are S , P, SiO2.

A: High carbon steels rich in tungsten and chromium provide wearing metal-cutting tools, which retain their high hardness at temperatures up to 600 degree . An example is 18/4/1 steel containing 18% tungsten, 4%of chromium, 1% vanadium, and 0.8% carbon.

A: Silicon carbide elements are used today in the melting of glass and non-ferrous metal, heat treatment of metals, float glass production, production of ceramics and electronics components, igniters in pilot lights for gas heaters, etc.

A: Yes - the properties of silicon carbide make it a nonoxide ceramic ideal for high-temperature applications. As the most corrosion-resistant ceramic, it is used in mechanical seals and pump parts as well as forging and other thermally conductive applications.

A: The high-carbon steels contain carbon from 0.60% to 2.00%, and this group of steel is very difficult to weld, as they readily enter the hard and brittle martensite phase, as the steel cools from welding.

A: High carbon steel contains 0.6% to 1.5% carbon content and is known for its high strength and hardness, but high carbon steel is even more brittle than medium-carbon steel. High carbon steel is used in applications that require high strength such as knife blades, hand tools and springs.

A: Generally, the higher the carbon content in steel, the harder the steel is. However, this also means that the harder the steel, the more brittle it is. This means that high-carbon steel is harder than low-carbon steel but is also more brittle.
